Headers and Beams
With short-span applications like window and door headers, it’s shear strength that counts. TimberStrand® LSL has a shear stress of 400 psi—up to 50% stronger than other common EWPs—making TimberStrand® LSL the right solution for the right job. Thanks to its dimensional stability and durability, it resists warping, twisting, cupping, or checking and stands up to the challenges of dry climates.
Bearing strength can be an issue with headers, and here again TimberStrand® LSL is the clear winner because its high bearing strength can reduce the number of trimmers you’ll need at openings. Green-minded builders also appreciate the fact that TimberStrand® LSL is made from fast-growing wood species and Trus Joist's manufacturing process makes the best use, with virtually no waste, of each log.
When our header is stronger, greener, and a better value—why are you still using other headers?

Using TrusJoist TimberStrand
Cutting holes in TimberStrand:
Wall framing solutions made from TimberStrand LSL are straight, free of knots and resist twisting, shrinking and bowing after installation. This helps cut down on callbacks due to sheetrock cracks. TimberStrand LSL Wall Framing solutions also help cabinets and countertops install flush without the hassles of shimming. The flat, stable surface they create for tile installations reduces the chance of tile and grout cracking.
